Spring sports regular season wrapping up

The high school spring sports regular season will wrap up and sectional baseball and softball pairings will be announced this coming week.

The annual Niagara-Orleans All League track meet will be held on Wednesday at Wilson.

On the baseball diamond, Akron, which has already clinched at least a tie for its first N-O title since 1975, can lockup outright possession of the crown by winning one of its final two games. The Tigers, which have a 9-1 record, will host Albion on Tuesday and then visit Albion on Wednesday.

Medina, which is now 7-3 after Saturday’s 2-1 8 inning loss to Akron, will need a pair of wins over Newfane along with a pair of Albion wins over Akron to claim a share of the title. Medina will host Newfane on Tuesday and visit the Panthers on Wednesday.

That combination of events would also earn Roy-Hart, which has finished its N-O schedule at 9-3, a one-third share of the title.

The Section VI softball playoff pairings will be announced on Tuesday with the opening round of games scheduled for Wednesday.

The Section V softball pairings are scheduled to be announced on Thursday with the first round games on Friday and Saturday.

The Section VI baseball pairings will be announced on Saturday with the opening round games scheduled for Monday May 22.

The Section V baseball pairings will be announced on Friday with the first round games scheduled for Saturday.

The Section VI lacrosse playoff pairings will be announced Wednesday with the quarterfinal round scheduled for May 24.
