Spartans surge past Mustangs
Leading by a narrow 6-5 margin, Starpoint erupted for seven runs in the sixth inning to lock up a 13-6 victory over Medina in a non league contest at wind swept Vets Park this afternoon that was halted after six innings by rain.
The Spartans combined four singles and a three-run double to break the contest open in the sixth.
Starpoint also got off to a quick start by scoring three runs on five hits in the top of the first inning.
However, Medina answered right back with five runs n the home half of the first on a two-run single by Matt Riemer, an RBI single by Quentin Adkins and sacrifices by Adam Hoot and Sam Crowley. A walk and a single by Josh Scroger ignited the uprising which also included a single by Tyler Ames.
The Mustangs though could not score again until the bottom of the sixth on a double by Crowley and an RBI single by Scorger.
Crowley, Riemer and Scroger each had two hits on the day.
Starpoint regained the lead for good at 6-5 by scoring three times in the fourth inning on two singles, an error and a two run double.
Cleve Hill 3, Roy-Hart 1
In another non league game, Cleveland Hill scored twice in the seventh inning on a single and two errors to edge past host Roy-Hart 3-1.
Andy Xapsos and CJ Fitch had Roy-Hart’s only hits.
Softball
Roy-Hart 8, Lockport 8
Lockport rallied for eight runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to earn an 8-8 tie with Roy-Hart in a rain soaked non league softball game.
Kayla Brown and Hannah Rausch both had two hits and Sam Brown drove in two runs for Roy-Hart which scored three times in both the first and third innings. Kayla Brown’s hits included a double.
