Son charged with killing father in Niagara County

WHEATFIELD – A Wheatfield man has been charged with murder in the second degree after allegedly killing his father, the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office reported today.

Deputies were called to Hill Road this morning at 7:47 for a domestic incident between a father and son. When deputies arrived, Bryan W. Cummings, 42, was standing outside the residence and was detained by patrol without incident.

Upon patrol entering the residence, Ward A. Cummings, 61, of Wheatfield was found unresponsive on the floor with multiple lacerations. Patrol and EMS agencies performed life-saving measures, but Mr. Cummings was pronounced deceased, the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Bryan W. Cummings has been charged with murder in the second degree, a Class A-I felony, and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, a Class D felony. He is being held pending arraignment.
