Somerset’s hot bats best Tri City

Pounding out a total of 15 hits, Somerset downed host Tri City 10-5 this evening in a Lockport Midget ‘A’ League game.

Chauncey McKee had 4 hits, Preston Harris 3 and Devin Mangan and Kyle MacDonald 2 each to lead the attack for Somerset which improves to 5-2.  Harris and MacDonald both drove in 3 runs.

Breaking away from a 4-4 deadlock, Somerset took the lead for good by scoring 3 times in the sixth inning on a two-run single by Jacob Hoffee and an RBI single by MacDonald. A single by Mangan and a pair of walks also aided the rally.

Somerset then tacked on 3 insurance runs in the seventh on a two-run single by MacDonald and an RBI single by Mangan. A hit by Evan Ecker and a walk set up the threat.

Ecker picked up the win on the mound scattering 6 hits and striking out 8 over 6 innings.

Somerset next hosts Roy-Hart at 6 p.m. Thursday.
