Improving to 2-1, Somerset edged past Roy-Hart (1-2) 4-2 in a Lockport Midget ‘A’ League game this evening at Gasport.

Eddie Wasnock went the distance on the mound for Somerset allowing only 2 hits and striking out 15.

Three Roy-Hart pitchers, Walker Samanka, Brice Seddon and Cam Meadows, combined on a 2 hitter with 10 strikeouts.

Somerset grabbed a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning without the benefit of a hit on a pair of errors after a hit batter and 2 walks loaded the bases.

Roy-Hart cut the deficit to 2-1 in the second on a wild pitch after three walks loaded the bases. Wasnock though got out of further trouble with a clutch inning ending strikeout.

Somerset got that run back with interest by scoring twice in the third on a wild pitch and a fielders choice play off the bat of Logan Harris. A single by Kyle MacDonald helped set up that threat.

Roy-Hart pulled to with 4-2 with a run in the third on a fielders choice play and later got a runner to third in the seventh after a triple by Seddon but Wasnock again notched a clutch strikeout to end the threat and the game.

Roy-Hart first baseman Wyatt Redburn stretches to take  the throw for an out on Somerset’s Logan Harris.
