Soccer, volleyball tourneys to highlight busy opening fall H.S. sports week

The Holley boys soccer tournament and the Albion volleyball tourney will highlight a busy first full week of the local fall high school sports season.

The Holley tournament gets underway on Thursday as the host Hawks will host Roy-Hart and Newfane will take on Batavia. The consolation and championship games are slated for Saturday.

The Kendall boys soccer squad will also open the season in a tourney at Sodus. The Eagles will face Webster Christian in the opening round on Friday.

The nine team Albion volleyball tournament is set for Saturday with Medina, Lyndonville and Roy-Hart among the entrants.

The Albion spikers will have a busy week as the Purple Eagles will also prep for their Niagara-Orleans League title defense by visiting Attica on Tuesday and Byron-Bergen on Wednesday.

The week’s volleyball action will also see Roy-Hart visiting Lyndonville on Tuesday and Medina hosting Holley on Wednesday.

The busy week will also see N-O girls soccer action begin on Tuesday with Roy-Hart at Medina, Albion at Barker, CSAT at Newfane and defending champion Wilson visiting last year’s runner-up Akron in the feature contest.

Wilson is led by a pair of first team N-O All-League honorees, senior midfielder Lauren Austin and senior goalie Kathynne Tube, while Akron has a trio of returning first team All-Leagues including senior forward Paige Buscaglia, senior midfielder Cailin Regan and junior midfielder Erika Papke.

N-O boys soccer action begins Wednesday with Medina at CSAT and Wilson at defending champion Akron.

The football season will kickoff on Friday as Barker/Roy-Hart hosts Lew-Port at Middleport. Gridiron action will continue on Saturday afternoon with Medina at Newfane, Albion at Burgard and Holley hosting Attica.

Golf – CSAT at Roy-Hart, 4 p.m.

Wednesday

Field Hockey – Medina at Wilson, 4:30 p.m.
Golf – Wilson at Medina, Barker at CSAT, Roy-Hart at Akron, Newfane at Albion, 4 p.m.
Boys Soccer – Medina at CSAT Wilson at Akron, 4:30 p.m.; Albion at Wheatland-Chil, 6:30 p.m.
Volleyball – Albion at Byron-Bergen, Holley at Medina, 6:30 p.m.
