Snow bursts could make roads slick

The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement for Orleans County, saying that snow bursts will produce poor visibility until 6:45 p.m. today.

“A cold westerly wind over Lake Ontario is producing scattered to numerous snow showers,” the Weather Service said. “These bursts of snow within strong westerly winds will bring reduced visibilities to a quarter of a mile or less.”

While snow accumulation this afternoon will be minimal, as the sun sets these bursts of snow may bring slick spots and minor accumulations on roadways. If driving this evening, be prepared for slippery spots and reduced visibilities, the Weather Service said.
