Taking aim at improving on last fall’s 0-9-3 record, the Medina High field hockey team is prepping for the upcoming Niagara-Orleans League season led by six returning seniors.

That veteran group includes defenders Kelsey Evoy, Lindsey Hill and Shannon Allen, midfielder Mallori Wienke and forwards Jayne Kuhn and Baillie Oberther.

Evoy earned second team N-O All-League honors last fall while Kuhn and Hill were both honorable mention selections.

The Mustangs also return varsity experience in juniors Anna Blount (midfield) and Addison Zavitz (defender).

The Medina line-up also includes juniors Hallie Seaman, Dominique Hughes, Chantille Kidney, Bailey Allen and sophomore Stella Russo.

“It’s a good group of kids and they are working hard but the biggest thing is our small numbers,” Coach Kristi Young said.

Medina opens the N-O season with road games at Kenmore on Thursday and Akron on Sept. 10 before hosting Roy-Hart on Sept. 12.
