Sheriff apologizes for unintentional emergency alert

ALBION – Earlier today, the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center was conducting training on the new Integrated Public Alert and Warning System, commonly known as IPAWS.
During the training, a message was unintentionally transmitted to members of the public. There is no emergency associated with the message, and no action is required.
Please do not call 911 solely regarding the alert. The 911 emergency lines should remain available for those experiencing an actual emergency.
We apologize for any confusion or concern the message may have caused and appreciate the public’s understanding.
