Senior twin bill at Medina Friday

Photos by Cheryl Wertman – Kendall’s Taylor Kingsbury and Medina’s Jason Hellwig will be among the participants in the annual Niagara-Orleans League vs. Genesee Region League senior doubleheader on Friday at Medina.

The 16th annual Niagara-Orleans League vs. Genesee Region League senior basketball doubleheader will be held at Medina High on Friday.

The girls game will be at 5:30 p.m. followed by the boys contest at 7 p.m.

The leagues split last year’s twin bill as the G-R won the girls game 59-47 and the N-O took the boys contest 96-77.

The N-O holds a 10-5 lead in both the boys and girls series.

The roster for the N-O girls squad will include Mandi Covis from Albion, Kendra Hill and Taylor Fry from Roy-Hart, Maicie Baker and Melissa Grosshans from Barker, Jordan Frasier and Mia Jones from CSAT, Cailin Regan and Maggie Kowalik from Akron, Brooke Horning and Bailey Koithan from Newfane and Megan DiLaura and Mercedes Rees from league champion Wilson.

The lineup for the G-R girls squad will include Taylor Kingsbury and Tania Arellano from Kendall, Rebekah Hoffee from Lyndonville, Jade Underood from Holley, Lindsey Lovett and Sam Morgante from Byron-Bergen, Sydney Breton from Alexander, Haley Brown, Jenna Pedro and Alyssa Bogue from Elba, Maddie Drake from Attica, Rylee Moser from Pembroke and Hannah Dunlap from Oakfield-Alabama.

The roster for the N-O boys squad will include Austin Loyd, Des Blackmon and Clayton Stanton from Albion, Jason Hellwig from Medina, Kyle Bradley, Evan Shank and Joe Littere from league champion Wilson, Nelson Andrade from Roy-Hart, Dylanta Carson and Bryan Locke from CSAT, Kyle Burdick from Newfane, Larson Sundown from Akron and Tom Callaghan from Barker.

The lineup for the G-R boys squad will include Will Condo, Riley Iqbal and Justin Barrett from Kendall, Joe DeFelice from Holley, Tyler Roberts from Wheatland-Chili, Ryan Cummings and Ryan Emery from Oakfield-Alabama, Josh Johnson from Notre Dame, Jake Riggs and Tyler Laird from Alexander, Derek Walker from Attica and Nick Magin from Alexander.

The coaches for the N-O girls team will be Kevin Klumpp from Newfane and Jeff Costello from Barker. The N-O boys team will be coached by Brennan Meakin, Tim Archer and Shane Phillips from Albion.

The G-R girls squad coaches will be Jeff Parizek from Kendall and Richard Krzewinski from Byron-Bergen. The G-R boys coaches will be Justin Laureano from Kendall and Scott Lund from W-C.
