A quintet of returning senior starters anchors the lineup for the Lyndonville softball squad this season as the Lady Tigers look to keep the momentum from back-to-back sectional final appearances the last two years.

Lyndonville, which captured the Section V Class D1 title in 2013 and finished second last spring, is led by pitcher/first baseman Maddy Boyle, shortstop Rebekah Hoffee, pitcher/outfielder Haley Wetherbee, second baseman Kaitlyn Albone and first baseman Morgan Hungerford.

Boyle and Hoffee both earned Genesee Region League All-Star honors. Boyle, who struck out 30 in 60 innings in the circle, hit .458 with 7 double, 1 triple, 2 home runs and 20 RBI. Hoffee hit .414 with 3 doubles, 1 triple and 13 RBI.

“Our expectations are always high and we’ve got a good core returning,” said Coach Joe Moore whose Lady Tigers went 8-3 in Genesee Region League action and 15-4 overall.

The Lady Tigers two biggest holes to fill look to be at third base and catcher with the loss to graduation of Jenna Castricone and Madison Gardepe respectively. Both earned spots on the G-R All-Star squad.

“Third base and catcher are the big holes to fill but our pitching is solid and overall our starters should be pretty solid,” said Moore.

The Lady Tigers roster also includes juniors Lisa Boyce (third base), Rhiannon Burgess (second base/outfield), Jenna Doran (first base), Antoinette Gress (first base/outfield), Jessie Harling (outfield) and Jasmine Plummer (outfield) along with sophomore Aubrey Lewis (catcher/utility) and freshman Miranda Lembke (catcher).

Lyndonville is scheduled to host three non league games (April 6 vs. Newfane, April 7 vs. Medina and April 8 vs. Wilson before opening the Genesee Region League season at Wheatland-Chili on April 10.
