Sectional class tournaments up next for area grapplers

Area high school wrestlers will take the first step in the quest to earn a berth in the state championships by competing in sectional class tournaments this weekend.

In Section V, Lyndonville and Kendall will be competing in the Class B Tournament at Keshequa. Wrestling is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. Friday and continue on Saturday with the finals slated for 4 p.m. Holley will be taking part in the Class BB Tournament at Warsaw where competition is slated to begin at 4:30 p.m. Friday. Wrestling will continue on Saturday with the finals scheduled for 4 p.m.

Lyndonville’s duo of Tony Recco and Dustin Joy are both defending Class B champions.

In Section VI, Medina, Barker/Roy-Hart, Newfane and Akron will be competing in the Class C Tournament at Falconer while Albion will be taking part in the Class B Tournament at Cheektowaga and Wilson in the Class D Tournament at Ripley. All three tournaments will be held on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m with the finals scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
