Section VI wrestling class tourneys Saturday; host Tigers have high seeds for B3 Tourney

Section VI wrestling tournament competition will get underway on Saturday with the class tournaments.

Medina, Newfane, Akron and Wilson will be competing in the Class C-D Tournament at Eden while Albion and Roy-Hart/Barker will take part in the Class B Tourney at CSAT.

There will be no ticket sales at the class tourney sites. Tickets can only be obtained online by checking the Section VI website(click here for tickets).

The Section VI state qualifier tournament for Class D2 (which includes all of the Niagara-Orleans League teams) will be held on February 12 at Jamestown Community College.

The state championships are scheduled for February 25 and 26 at Albany.

Tigers have top seeds
Host Lyndonville has nine wrestlers seeded in the top three of their respective weight classes for the Section V Class B3 Tournament which will be held on Saturday.

The Tigers have Christian Garver (110) and Maddox Stirk (189) seeded first, Payton Grabowski (172) and Sam Doolan (225) second and Shane Nickerson (102), Brody Hazel (118), Ty Holmes (126), Noah Neff (138) and Sebastian Temich (152) third.

A total of 15 schools are scheduled to compete in the tourney including defending champion South Seneca, Bolivar-Richburg which took the title in both 2019 and 2020 and Perry.
