Section VI softball playoffs begin today
No. 8 seed Albion will host No.9 East Aurora at 4:45 this afternoon to open the Section VI Class B1 softball playoffs. The winner advances to a Thursday quarterfinal round contest at top seeded Depew.
No. 10 Wilson opens Class B2 competition at 4:45 this afternoon at No. 7 Olmsted with the victor to play at No. 2 Fredonia Thursday.
The three Niagara-Orleasn League tri-championship teams – Medina, Akron and Roy-Hart – will begin Class B2 competition at 4:45 p.m.Thursday. The teams shared the title at 9-3 marking the first time the league has ever had tri-champs in softball.
No. 3 Medina will face No. 6 Southwestern at Albion due to renovate work beginning at Vets Park. No. 4 Roy-Hart will host No. 5 Akron which won both meetings during the N-O season.
The Class B1 quarterfinals on Thursday will also have No. 5 Newfane at No. 4 Tonawanda.
In Class C2, No. 8 Barker visits top seeded Portville in the quarterfinals on Thursday.
