Search called off for missing woman after body found at Hamlin park
HAMLIN — A search for a missing Town of Sweden woman has been called off after State Police discovered the body of a woman on the Lake Ontario shoreline at Hamlin Beach State Park.
State Police used a helicopter when they spotted the body of a woman at about 9 this morning, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Law enforcement officers then recovered the body. Foul play is not suspected.
Margaret DeGraff, 47, had been missing since Wednesday. Her vehicle was located Sunday in the Hamlin Beach State Park area.
The body has not been positively identified pending an autopsy by the Monroe County Medical Examiner.
Monroe County Sheriff Todd Baxter thanked the department’s deputies, Park Police, DEC officers, State Police, firefighters and other law enforcement agencies for their assistance in an extensive search and recovery.
The Sheriff’s Office extended its condolences to the family and friends of the person recovered from the shoreline.
