Seahorses split in opener

Medina earned a split this evening in a season opening non league swim meet at Alexander.

Medina won the girls meet 71-23 but lost the boys competition 76-25.

Emma Gardner won both the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly and Emilee Austin the 50 free and 500 free to lead the Medina girls squad which also had Haylee Cogovan take the 100 breaststroke, McKenzie Wright the 100 free and Krista Nellist the 100 backstroke.

Barker scored a sweep at Pembroke winning the boys meet 67-26 and the girls competition 55-39.

Casey Webb doubled in the 50 and 100 free for the Barker boys squad and Emma Jenks did likewise for the Lady Raiders.

Roy-Hart likewise scored a sweep at Byron-Bergen taking the boys 106-60 and the girls 113-53.

The Roy-Hart boys squad was led by a trio of individual event double winners including Roy Phipps (50 free, 100 free), Nick DiNardo (200 free, 500 free) and Lyle Wagner (100 individual medley, 100 backstroke).

The Roy-Hart girls had Calee Coleman double in the 200 and 500 freestyle events and Lindsay Wagner take both the 50 free and 100 free.

Albion was swept at Oakfield-Alabama. Brooke Wilson doubled in the 50 and 100 freestyle events for the Albion girls squad.

Non league swim action resumes on Dec. 3 with Wheatland-Chili at Medina, H-A-C at Albion, Oakfield-Alabama at Barker and Attica at Roy-Hart.
