Seahorses have youthful squads

Underclassmen dominate the lineups for both the Medina boys and girls swim teams which will open the season with a non league meet at HAC on Tuesday.

Combined the two teams have a total of just six seniors including Hannah Heil, Grace Cook, Tessa Pecoraro, Margaret Klotzbach, Chris Goyette and Hunter Heil.

At last year’s girls Niagara-Orleans All-League meet, Hannah Heil placed second in both the 50 Freestyle and 100 Free while junior Brooklyn Brown took fourth in the 100 Butterfly and junior Amanda Woodruff fifth in the Butterfly.

The boys All-League meet saw Hunter Heil win the 100 Backstroke and place third in the Butterfly, junior August Pietrafesa win the 200 Free, Goyette place third in the 200 Individual Medley and fifth in the Backstroke and sophomore Isaac Pace third in the 100 Breaststroke and fourth in the 50 Free.

On the girls’ team, the other upperclassmen include juniors Corrine Hill, Hannah Kenward, Carina Kingsbury, Emma Roush, Emma Schwarzott, Madison Stewart and Sydney Watts along with sophomores Dakota Alexander and Kaylee Lacey.

The upperclassmen on the boys squad also includes junior Andrew Wolter along with sophomores Cole Seefeldt, Xander Payne, Jaxon Phillips, Ben Gibson, Michael Marker and Ethan Stonebreaker.

The Seahorses will open the Niagara-Orleans League season at Albion on December 10.
