Seahorses down Purple Eagles

Capping off the regular season on a high note, Medina swept to a doubleheader victory over Albion this afternoon in a Niagara-Orleans League swim meet.

The Medina boys defeated Albion 122-20 and the girls posted a 122-45 victory.

The Medina boys got individual event wins from six different swimmers as Chase Pecoraro took the 200 individual medley, Derek Donley the 50 freestyle, Austin Brown the 100 butterfly, Nick Dieter the 100 free, Daniel Heil the 100 backstroke and Kristian Snyder the 100 breaststroke.

The Seahorses also swept the three relays as Patrick Roberts, James Soha, Ian McAnn and Gilles Diviere took the 200 medley; Donley, McAnn, Chase Pecoraro and Brown the 200 free and Diviere, McAnn, Roberts and Soha the 400 free.

Albion’s Morgan Seielstad was a double winner in the 200 and 500 freestyle events.

Medina finishes the regular season at 5-5 and Albion at 2-8.

Emma Gardner was a double winner in the 50 and 100 freestyle events for the Medina girls squad which also got individual event victories from Amanda McCauley (200 free), Max Wright (200 individual medley), Andrea Toussaint (100 butterfly), Krista Nellist (100 backstroke) and Haylee Cogovan (100 breaststroke).

In sweeping the three relays, the Seahorses had Abby Smith, Cogovan, Toussaint and Gardner win the 200 medley; Wright, Kelsey Evoy, Sam Wendling and Emilee Austin the 200 free and Wright, Wendling, McCauley and Austin the 400 free.

Albion’s Sarah Graham won the 500 free.

The Medina girls wind up the regular season at 4-5-1 and Albion at 0-10.

Newfane, Barker split

The Newfane girls squad completed a fifth straight 10-0 N-O championship series with a 107-62 victory over Barker.

Kiki Dy doubled in the 50 and 100 free and Lydia Gaughran in the 200 and 500 free to led Newfane.

Barker finishes at 4-5-1.

The Barker boys completed an 8-2 seaon with a 101-65 victory over Newfane which winds up at 4-6.

Casey Webb won the 50 free and was on the 200 and 400 free relays for Barker.

Amdrew Hamelink doubled in the individual medley an 100 breaststroke for Newfane.
