Sandstone scores two Midget League wins
Sandstone scored a pair of wins this past week, 19-12 over Carlton and 7-2 over Rotary, to improve to 4-0 in Albion Midget League action.
Trailing 12-11, Sandstone pulled out the win over Carlton by scoring eight runs in the sixth inning highlighted by a two-run home run by Drew Pritchard, a two-run triple by Elliot Trapess and a two-run double by Wesley LeFrois.
Gavin Boyce had a two-run double and Colin McMullen a two-run homer to help give Carlton the 12-11 lead.
Omer Fugate then registered 17 strikeouts on the mound for Sandtone in the win over Rotary.
At the plate, Brayden Ryder had a two-run single in the first inning and Trapess a two-run double in the second for Sandstone.
Dennis Mathes had a home run and Liam Leader a triple for Rotary which got a 10 strikeout effort on the mound from Noah Harrison.
In the other game, Rotary downed Barre/Elba 13-1.
Standings: Sandstone 4-0, Carlton 2-2, Rotary 2-2, Barre/Elba 0-4.
