Sandlot teams sweep U12 Fillies

The Sandlot Maroon and Gold teams both downed the Medina U12 Fillies Saturday in Metro Girls Softball League action.

Sandlot Maroon 18, Medina 4

Sandlot opened with six quick runs in the first and second innings.

Medina answered with four in the top of the third.  Carina Kingsbury opened the inning with a walk and stole home on a passed ball. Lyanna King and Bonnie DiCureia both got on with walks.  King scored on an error and DiCureia on an RBI single by Chloe Stinson.  Paige Adkins brought in the last run with an RBI single.

Only up by two Sandlot answered back with 9 runs int he third on a series of walks.

Sandlot Gold 14, Medina 4

Medina came out with two quick runs. Ryan Olles got on with a hit by pitch and scored on passed ball.  Stinson got on with a double and scored on an RBI single by Adkins.

However,Sandlot answered back with four.  Sandlot continued their scoring in the second, third, and fourth to reap a total of 10 runs which ended on a double play by Gracie Hughes at first and Stinson at catcher.

Medina finally answered back with one in fifth with Hannah Kenward getting on with a walk and scoring on a sacrifice bunt by Carina Kingsbury and one more run in the sixth with a single by Olles who scored on a passed ball after leaving Faith Oberther stranded on third when she hit a triple in the third.
