A late comeback bid fell short as the Medina U14 Fillies dropped a 12-8 decision to the Sandlot Saints Thursday in a Metro Girls Softball League game at Vets Park.

Trailing 11-2, the Fillies rallied for 6 runs in the sixth inning on hits by Morgan Allis, Brooklyn Brown, Lacey Kenward, Ryenn Oliver and Camri King but could get no closer than 11-8.

Sandlot scored two quick runs in the top of the first to take early lead.

Medina answered with a run in the second by plating Brandi Guild.

Sandlot added three more in the top half of the fourth and again Medina answered with a run as Kenward scored in the home half of the frame.

However, Sandlot pulled away for good by adding 5 more in the fifth upping the advantage to 11-2.

In the circle for the Fillies, Oliver struck out 5 in 5 innings work.

The Fillies will be home again Tuesday to face Sandlot Gold at 6:30 p.m. at Vets.
