Russo selected All-WNY Pitcher of the Year

Capping off a big senior season, Roy-Hart’s Thomas Russo has been named the All Western New Yok baseball team’s small schools Pitcher of the Year.
A two-time Niagara-Orleans League Player of the Year honoree and a three-time first team N-O All-League selection, Russo posted a 6-1 record on the mound with 118 strikeouts and a 0.35 earned run average this season. At the plate, he hit .507 with 11 doubles, 5 triples, 3 home runs and 22 RBI.
Akron senior pitcher Andrew Romesser earned first team All-WNY small school honors while Medina senior pitcher Aidan Paul and Roy-Hart junior outfielder Brayden Hy were both second team selections. Wilson sophomore pitcher Tyler Johnston received Honorable Mention.
Romesser had 55 strikeouts and a 2.43 era on the mound and a .408 average with 12 RBI at the plate.
Paul had a school record 140 strikeouts and a 1.13 era. At the plate, he hit .414 with 7 doubles, 1 triple, 2 home runs and 13 RBI.
Hy hit .452 with 8 doubles, 4 triples, 3 home runs and 24 RBI. He also had a 3-1 record with 44 strikeouts on the mound.
Johnston had 97 strikeouts and a 1.42 era. He also hit .340 with 4 doubles and 11 RBI.
