Roy-Hart tops Medina to capture N-O diamond championship outright

Roy-Hart locked up outright possession of its first Niagara-Orleans League baseball championship since 1953 by defeating Medina 7-2 at Vets Park this evening.

Charlie Bruning went the distance on the mound allowing only 2 hits and striking out 12 as Roy-Hart improves to 11-2.

Justin Heschke and Eric Fitch both had 3 hits to lead the Rams offense.

Roy-Hart scored twice in the third inning on a single by Heschke and a sacrifice by Bruning and three times in the fourth as Fitch doubled in one run and Al Xapsos singled in another. Bruning also had another sacrifce to plate an insurance run in the seventh.

Medina’s two runs came in the fourth sparked by a single by Brad McPherson.

The loss drops Medina to 5-8.

Barker 4, Albion 3
Barker rallied for four runs in the sixth inning on RBI singles by Brad Wilson, Collin Webb, Ryan Voss and a run producing sacrifice fly by Jake Meister to erase a 3-0 deficit and nip Albion 4-3.

Both teams are now 8-5 in N-O action.

Wilson 10, Akron 7
John Bender had 3 hits, including a double, and Jake Mitchell 2 to lead Wilson (7-5) to a 10-7 win over Akron (3-10).
