Roy-Hart tops Lyndonville to tighten Midget ‘A’ title race

Roy-Hart sliced front-running Lyndonville’s lead to just one game by posting a 3-1 victory at Gasport this evening in a key Lockport Midget ‘A’ League game.

The win improves Roy-Hart’s record to 6-3 while Lyndonville slips to 8-2.

Brad Wilson hurled a 3 hitter for Roy-Hart with 6 strikeouts.

Wilson also got plenty of help from his defense including a big double play triggered by shortstop Andy Jacobs in the first inning and a couple of key stops by Al Xapsos at second base.

Roy-Hart scored all three of its runs in the second inning on RBI singles by Cameron Meadows and Eric Fitch and an error. A leadoff single by CJ Fitch ignited the uprising.

Lyndonville’s lone run came in the seventh inning on a pair of errors and a fielders choice play. Wilson though quickly ended the inning and the game with a strikeout.

Ty Hrovat went the distance on the mound for Lyndonville giving up 5 hits and striking out 6.

Trevor Bentley had 2 hits for Lyndonville.

Roy-Hart next visits third place Albion (5-3-1) and Lyndonville visits Medina in two key games at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
