Roy-Hart rolls past Southwestern in B2

Pounding out 19 hits, No. 2 seeded Roy-Hart romped to an 18-3 victory over visiting Southwestern this afternoon in the Section VI Class B2 baseball quarterfinals.

Roy-Hart took charge at the outset erupting for 6 quick runs in the first inning as Jake Bruning had a two-run single and Joe Nolan and winning pitcher Cam Meadows RBI singles. Singles by Andy and Al Xapsos ignited the uprising.

Nolan and Ben Maynard both had 4 hits on the day as Justin Heschke chipped in with 3 and Bruning 2.

On the mound, Meadows allowed only 3 hits and struck out 5.

The Rams will face the winner of the Wilson/daVinci game in the semifinals on Monday.

East Aurora ousts Albion

A big fifth inning scoring burst keyed No. 2 East Aurora to a 9-2 win over visiting No. 7 Albion this afternoon in the quarterfinals of the Section VI Class B1 playoffs.

Leading by a narrow 3-2 margin, East Aurora scored 5 runs in the decisive frame aided by a pair of errors.

Albion stayed close at 3-2 by scoring once in the first on a single by Evan Papplardo and once in the fourth on a double by Vincent Zona.
