Roy-Hart/Barker/Medina icers set to compete in state championship tourney this weekend

The Roy-Hart/Barker/ Medina Western New York champion club hockey team will complete its inaugural season this weekend by competing in the New York State Club Championship in Jamestown.

Roy-Hart/Barker/Medina, which is seeded No.1 for the Niagara Frontier region, will meet Rockville Centre at 2 p.m. on Friday.  On Saturday, they will play Wantaugh/Seaford at 11 a.m. and Manhasset at 5:30 p.m.

Saturday’s games will eliminate two of the six teams in the tournament field which also includes Jamestown/Southwestern/Maple Grove and Iroquois/Alden.

On Sunday, the semifinals at noon will have the highest surviving seed playing the lowest, and the two in the middle playing each other.

The two winners will play then play in the state championship game at 5:30 p.m.

Roy-Hart/Barker/Medina advanced to the state tourney as this region’s No. 1 seed by capturing the WNY Mixed Schools Division playoff championship last Friday with a victory 4-1 over Jamestown/Southwestern/Maple Grove.
