Roy-Hart/Barker gridders win finale
Four long touchdown drives earned Roy-Hart/Barker a 28-14 victory over East Aurora/Holland in a season ending match-up football game this evening at Middleport.
Trailing 7-0, Roy-Hart/Barker rallied to take the lead for good with an 80 yard first quarter drive capped off by a 2-yard touchdown run by Aaron Curry. Malik Smith tacked on the go-ahead two-point conversion.
The Roy-Hart/Barker defense then came up with a big play just before half-time to keep the lead as Logan Morgan intercepted an East Aurora/Holland pass near the goaline.
Still leading by a narrow 8-7 margin, Roy-Hart/Barker opened up a little breaking room in the third quarter with a 75 yard drive capped off by an 8-yard TD run by Smith. Jon Huntington added the two-point conversion carry.
Smith then capped off a pair of long 65 and 80 yard fourth quarter drives with touchdown runs of 2 and 4 yards to up the lead to 28-7 and put a lock on the victory. A big 55 yard pass completion from quarterback Charlie Brigham to Charlie Bruning set up the final TD.
Smith finished with a total of 186 yards rushing and Curry 104 yards.
Roy-Hart/Barker finishes the season at 2-6 and East Aurora/Holland at 0-8.
