Roy-Hart tops Medina in field hockey; Akron trims Barker

A pair of first half goals proved to be just enough to earn Roy-Hart  2-1 victory over visiting Medina this afternoon in a Niagara-Orleans League field hockey game.

Delaney Draper scored off an assist from Samantha Choate and then Lexi Lovewell tallied from Ashley Hill to give Roy-Hart a 2-0 half-time lead.

Medina answered back when Guin Schalck scored off an assist from Grace Flores with 10 minutes to go in the second half but the Mustangs could not net the equalizer.

Roy-Hart stays unbeaten at 3-0 while Medina slips to 2-1.

Defending champion Akron nipped visiting Barker by an identical 2-1 score as Abby Stone scored in the first half and Rebecca Breymeier in the second half for a 2-0 lead.

Barker’s goal was scored by Rachel Hurtgam.

Akron is now 2-0 and Barker 1-1.

Wilson likewise won by a 2-1 margin over Newfane but in overtime.

Hannah Day scored both goals for Wilson.

Hailey Furgeson scored the Newfane goal.

Wilson improves to 1-2 and Newfane drops to 0-3.

Medina’s Alexis Maines battles with Roy-Hart’s Katelin Corra for control of the ball.
