Roy-Hart tops Akron to lockup N-O softball championship; Medina downs Wilson

Roy-Hart combined a 9-1 win over host Akron with Medina’s 7-4 victory over host Wilson this afternoon to lockup outright possession of a third straight Niagara-Orleans League softball championship.

Staying perfect at 10-0, Roy-Hart now holds a three game lead over runners-up Medina (8-3), Wilson (5-3) and Akron (4-3) with just two games remaining.

Roy-Hart took charge at the outset erupting for six quick runs in the first inning as Jayden Townsend had a two-run single, Reanna Perkins an RBI triple and winning pitcher Mallory Steiner, Lexie Lovewell and Jamie Bower run producing singles.

Maddie Fry had 3 hits on the day and Shelby Wolf a double for the Lady Rams.

In the circle, Steiner scattered 5 hits and struck out 7.

Medina scored three quick runs in the first inning and later the deciding three runs in the fifth frame to key the in over Wilson.

Ashlee Howell had 4 hits and winning pitcher Lacey Kenward 2 for the Mustangs.  In the circle, Kenward struck out 6.
