Roy-Hart tops Akron to hold N-O lead

Maintaining a one game lead, Roy-Hart defeated Akron 11-1 in a key Niagara-Orleans League baseball game this evening under the lights at Gasport.

Roy-Hart improves to 9-1 in N-O action to stay a game ahead of 8-2 Medina as Akron slips out of contention at 6-4.

Thomas Russo went the distance on the mound for Roy-Hart giving up 5 hits and striking out 13.

Roy-Hart moved on top to stay by scoring three times in the second inning on a fielders choice play off the bat of Jay Heideman, a bunt single by Dawson Draper and a single by Ryan Mettler.

The Rams then broke the game open with four runs in the third inning on a two-run single by Remington Albee, an RBI single by Ethan Kuzma and an RBI bunt by John Conley.

Roy-Hart also tallied four times in the sixth inning capped off by RBI hits by Kuzma and Heideman.

The Rams will close out the N-O season with road games at Akron and Albion next Tuesday and Wednesday. Medina will finish the league campaign with a home and home series against Barker Wednesday and Thursday.
