Roy-Hart spikers rebound to down Albion

Rebounding from a five set loss in the season opener, defending champion Roy-Hart bounced back to defeat visiting Albion 25-11, 25-18, 25-9 this evening in a Niagara-Orleans League match.

Emily Livergood served up points 4-7 (2 aces), Makenna Elsenheimer 9-16 (1 ace) and Alex Stern 23-25 (2 aces) to key Roy-Hart to a first set win.

Leading by a narrow 12-9 margin, Roy-Hart opened up a 20-10 advantage in the second set as Raegan Kern scored points 13-17 and Stern 19-20 (1 ace).

Albion did cut the deficit to 20-15 as Maya Knaak served up points 12-15. However, Roy-Hart then closed out the win as Juliana Buscarino served up an ace for point 24 and Stern registered a spiking kill to polish off the set winner.

Three good runs of service points then highlighted the Lady Rams win in the decisive third set. Stern served up points 1-4 (1 ace) and points 20-25 (4 aces) Livergood 6-10 (1 ace).

Roy-Hart and Albion are now both 1-1 in N-O action.

Akron also downed Newfane in three sets to improve to 2-0.
