Roy-Hart spikers rally past Albion

Rebounding from an opening set loss, Roy-Hart rallied to defeat visiting Albion 22-25, 25-20, 25-9, 25-19 this evening in a Niagara-Orleans League volleyball match.

Albion got off to a quick start bouncing back from an a 14-8 deficit to take the opening set as Breanda Johnson served up points 9-15 (2 aces), Rylee Pearles 20-23 (2 aces) and Eowyn Pate registered an ace for the set winner.

However, Roy-Hart pulled even by taking the second set as a key six point run of service points by Maddie Ciemny (14-19) put the Lady Rams ahead to stay.

Keeping the momentum, Roy-Hart took the third set for a 2-1 lead in the match as Alexis Connolly had a big run of eight straight service points (10-17 including 2 aces) to give the Lady Rams a 17-6 lead.

Samantha Capen tacked on points 21-22 and Ciemny served up the final two points registering an ace for No. 24 as Alex Stern had a spiking kill for No. 25.

Breaking away from a 13-13 deadlock, Roy-Hart took the lead for good in the match clinching fourth set behind a key run of five straight service points by Capen (14-18). She had 2 aces and Samantha Albright had a spike kills and a block to policy off two points.

Albion did cut the deficit to one at 18-17 after a three point run of points by Maya Knaak but could not pull even.

Albright served up points 21-23 to put Roy-Hart up 23-18 and Renee Lehman registered an ace for the set and match winning point.

Connolly finished with a total of 13 service points (6 aces), Ciemny 11 points (2 aces) and Albright 8 points (3 aces). Albright, Ciemny, and Kali Scharping each had 5 kills and Marissa Scott 3.

Wilson 25-25-25, Medina 17-7-17
Medina dropped a straight set 25-17,25-7, 25-17 decision at Wilson in another N-O match.

Elle Gross and Devin Griffin both had 4 kills for Medina as Jordan Lugo and Emma Carson each had 4 assists.

In the other N-O opener, defending champion Akron defeated Newfane 25-11, 25-18, 25-22.

Kendall 25-25-25, Rochester Academy 7-7-18
Kendall defeated visiting Rochester Academy 25-7, 25-7, 25-18 in a non league match.

Autumn Woodward went 17-17 from the service line with 14 aces and 3 kills. Sara Mattle added 4 kills and 2 aces, Brittney Marks had 8 digs, 5 aces, 3 assists, and 3 kills, and Madison Shonitsky contributed 6 assists and 2 kills for Kendall.
