Roy-Hart spikers edge Medina in 5 sets

Defending champion Roy-Hart outlasted visiting Medina in five sets 16-25, 25-9, 26-24, 23-25, 15-10 in a Niagara-Orleans League volleyball match this evening.

Makenna Elsenheimer served up points 6-13 and Samantha Albright added points 14-15 to earn Roy-Hart the win in the decisive fifth set as the Lady Rams rebounded from a 9-5 deficit.

Albright had 8 kills and 3 aces on the evening as Ella Martillotta had 9 aces and Alex Stern 11 kills, 6 aces and 2 blocks.

For Medina, Ki’Mani Poole had 6 kills and 5 aces, Destiny Richardson 4 kills, Lorelei Sanders 5 aces and Kylie Poynter 3 aces.

Roy-Hart is now 3-2 and Medina 1-4.

In another N-O match, Newfane downed Albion 25-8, 20-25, 25-7, 25-23.

N-O Golf
Barker nipped Medina 261-262 in a Niagara-Orleans League golf match at Shelridge this afternoon.

Joel Harris led Barker with a 40.

Dylan Lonnen took medalist honors with a 37 and Aidan Paul had a 38 for Medina.

In the N-O matches, Albion won by forfeit over Wilson  and Akron defeated Roy-Hart 226-280.

Wilson’s Nathan Meyers took medalist honors with a 40 and Caleb Fox led Albion with a 42.

Drew Romesser and Trace Hill both shot 42 for Akron.

G-R Girls Soccer
In Genesee Region League girls soccer action Kendall played to a 1-1 double overtime tie with Pembroke and Byron-Bergen bested Holley 2-0.

Ava Quintern scored the Kendall goal late in the second half.
