Roy-Hart spikers down rival Medina
Roy-Hart bested host rival Medina 25-18, 20-25, 25-11, 25-22 this evening to improve to 7-1 and stay even with defending champion Akron (7-1) in the Niagara-Orleans League volleyball title race.
Aspen Moore spearheaded the Roy-Hart attack with 14 spiking kills for points.
Camri King led Medina at the net with 9 kills and Brandi Guild paced the Mustangs at the service line with 5 aces.
Roy-Hart took the opening set as Moore had 5 kills and a block for points while Kristina Burdick served up points 4-7 and 20-23 including 4 aces.
Medina battled back to knot the match by taking the second set as Elle Gross served up the final four points including an ace. A kill by King ignited that run.
However, Roy-Hart answered the challenge and regained the lead in the match for good by taking the third set as Moore had 4 kills and a block, Ella Brown 2 blocks and Emilia Peracciny served up the final 3 points including an ace. Moore also served up points 8-10 and Marissa Scott 15-17 to help the Lady Rams build up a 17-8 lead.
The Lady Rams then closed out the win by taking the fourth set as Moore had 3 kills and an ace and Alyssa Kubas 3 kills including for points 23 and 24.
The loss drops Medina to 3-5.
Kendall 25-25-25, Oakfield-Alabama/Elba 12-23-13
Brittney Marks had 8 kills and 6 assists, Kelly Mayes 5 kills and 4 aces and Anna Oakley 5 aces and 1 kill to lead the way for Kendall in the Genesee Region League win.
Brianna Smith had 5 kills and Leah Bezon 4 kills for OAE.
Byron-Bergen 25-25-25, Holley 15-11-18
Madison Farnsworth had 11 kills and 5 aces, Abby Vurraro 5 aces and Cynthia Morse 3 kills and 3 aces for Byron-Bergen which improves to 10-1 in the G-R League and 12-1 overall.
Nicole Mrzywka had 5 blocks, 2 aces and 1 kill and Jade Hoffarth 4 kills and 1 ace for Holley.
