Roy-Hart spikers down Albion in N-O opener

Photos by Cheryl Wertman – Roy-Hart’s Grace Pearl spikes a return as Albion’s Alivia Dumrese (5) and Hanna Kumalac are at the net. The action took place during this evening’s league opening match at Albion.

Roy-Hart opened defense of its Niagara-Orleans League volleyball championship by downing host Albion in straight sets 25-11, 25-19, 25-9 this evening.

Grace Pearl had 7 spiking kills and 4 service aces, Lauren Snyder and Kylie McOmber 5 kills each, Peyton May 5 aces and Ryleigh Capen 20 assists for Roy-Hart.

Jillian LeBaron and Anna Grillo both had 24 digs and Alivia Dumrese 4 kills for Albion.

Pearl served up points 2-5 and 24-25 (including 3 aces), May 7-10, Snyder 12-14 and Raegan Kern 16-20 (3 aces) for Roy-Hart in the opening set.

Albion grabbed an 18-17 lead late in the second set as LeBaron served up points 13-18 with two aces.

However, Roy-Hart rallied to polish off the set as May served up points 19-21 (2 aces)and Snyder 23-25 registering an ace for the set winner.

Keeping the momentum, the Lady Rams then closed out the match by rolling to a 25-9 win in the third set.

Maya Anderson and Karlee Cau both had 2 kills for Medina in the 25-23, 25-16, 25-17 N-O loss at Newfane.

Wilson 25-25-25, Akron 18-23-21
In the other N-O opener, Wilson bested Akron in straight sets 25-18, 25-23, 25-21
