Roy-Hart spikers best Albion in opener

Roy-Hart opened the Niagara-Orleans League volleyball season on a high note this evening by scoring a straight set 25-10, 25-15, 25-21 victory over three-time defending champion Albion at Albion.

Roy-Hart jumped out to a 10-3 lead in the opening set after a run of six straight service points by Olivia Vorholzer (5-10).

The Lady Rams capped off the opening set victory as Aspen Moore served up the final six points, two of which were aces.

Roy-Hart again grabbed an early 8-3 lead in the second set after a three point run by Be a Bacon, two of which were aces.

Albion did stay within four at 19-15 but could get no closer as Bacon served up the final five points for Roy-Hart.

Breaking away from an early 3-3 deadlock, Roy-Hart moved on top to stay in the third set after a big run of 8 straight service points by Victoria Stanczyk. Spiking kills by Vorholzer and Bacon highlighted that run which was capped off by a service ace.

Albion did rally back to within two a 19-17 after two aces by Sierra Newton and a three point run by Emilie Barleben (15-17) but the Purple Eagles could get no closer.

Bacon then polished off three of the final four points for the Lady Rams to close out the set and the match. Back-to-back kills by Bacon highlighted a three point run of service points by Stanczyk (21-23).

Albion, which had won 36 straight N-O matches over the past three title seasons, next hosts its annual tournament a Saturday as Roy-Hart is also in the eight team field.

Akron 25-17-25-18-25, Medina 16-25-22-25-20
Molley Gross had 8 kills, Maddie Williams and Je’ne Brown 5  and Carley Schultz 4 for Medina in the five set loss at Akron.

Alyssa Beyer added 20 digs for the Mustangs as Emily Kams had 14 digs and 11 assists, Grace Masse 19 digs and 11 assists, Leah Sheelar 4 aces and Lexi Neuman 2 aces.

Kendall 25-25-25, Holley 11-19-17
Kendall downed host rival Holley in straight sets in the Genesee Region League opener.

Sunni Brice had 8 assists and 3 aces, Chelsea Wright 8 aces and 3 digs, Madison Rath 8 kills and Lexi Payton 5 aces, 4 digs and 3 kills to lead the way for Kendall.
