Roy-Hart ousts Maritime to open B2 playoffs
Scoring in every inning, No. 3 seed Roy-Hart downed N. 6 Maritime 14-4 in a Section VI Class B2 quarterfinal this afternoon at Gasport.
Braydon Hy had 3 hits and 6 RBI to lead the attack for Roy-Hart as Hunter Babel and Ryan Mettler both chipped in with a pair of hits. Babel’s hits included a home run as Noah Stern had a triple and Mettler, Hy and John Conley each had a double.
The Rams scored 4 quick runs in the first inning and also tallied 4 times in the fourth.
Thomas Russo III pitched the first 4 innings of the run rule contest for the Rams allowing 2 hits and striking out 10.
Roy-Hart will next host No. 7 Cleveland Hill in the semifinals at 5 p.m. Wednesday. Cleve Hill ousted no. 2 Olmsted.
Class B2 softball sectionals
Medina, Roy-Hart bow
No. 2 Akron downed No. 7 Medina 12-1 and No. 3 Fredonia bested No. 6 Roy-Hart 11-0 this afternoon in the quarterfinal round of the Section VI Class B2 softball playoffs.
Jenelle Kieffer pitched a one hitter with 9 strikeouts for Akron which broke the game open early by erupting for nine runs in the second inning.
