Roy-Hart ousts Akron in B-2 playoff opener

Pulling away in the second half, No. 3 seed Roy-Hart downed Niagara-Orleans League foe No. 14 Akron 6-0 in an opening round  Section VI Class B2 boys soccer playoff game this evening at Gasport.

Roy-Hart grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first half on a goal by Aidan Bligh with 14:26 to go.

The Rams then broke the contest wide open by exploding for three goals in the first 10 minutes of the second half on consecutive tallies by Brendan Saia, Noah Stern and Bligh.

Later goals by Trent Choate and Peter Martillotta rounded out the Rams scoring parade.

Roy-Hart will host host another N-O foe, No. 6 seed Newfane, in the quarterfinals at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Newfane defeated Falconer/Cassadaga Valley 6-1 as Trevor Heschke had 3 goals and Connor Bowers, Jeremy Folt and Connor MacEvoy 1 each.

In another B2 opener, No. 10 Wilson defeated No. 7 daVinci 5-2 on goals by Marcus Schwarzmueller, Owen Cloy, Quinn Rees, Trent Kenny and Jake Barnes.
