Roy-Hart, Newfane swim teams lock up N-O titles

The Roy-Hart boys and Newfane girls swim teams both successfully defended their Niagara-Orleans League titles with home pool victories today.

The Roy-Hart boys downed Barker 92-78 to improve to 9-0 and lock up a ninth straight N-O championship.

The Newfane girls put a lock on a sixth straight N-O title by besting Akron 111-58 to improve to 9-0.

The Barker girls edged past Roy-Hart 87-83 to move into a tie for second place in the N-O standings with the Channel Cats at 6-3.

The Newfane boys downed Akron 105-54 to improve to 3-6.

Tanner Rees was a double winner for the Roy-Hart boys in the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke.

The Barker boys squad, which is now 7-2, had Collin Webb double in the 50 and 100 freestyle events and Casey Webb in the 200 free and 100 butterfly. The Raiders also had Andrew Jenks win the 500 free and Alex Goodlander the 100 backstroke.

The Newfane girls were sparked by a trio of individual event double winners including Lydia Gaughran (200 and 500 free), Allie DeBiase (50 free, breaststroke) and Lauren Seymour (individual medley, backstroke).

Sarah Gendrue doubled in the 100 free and breaststroke and Natalie Menz won the backstroke to lead the Barker girls.

Lindsay Yates was a double winner in the 50 and 500 free for Roy-Hart.

The Newfane boys were likewise paced by a trio of double winners including Zack Lundy (200 and 500 free), Andrew Hamelink (50 free, breaststroke) and Thomas Schultz (individual medley, backstroke).
