Roy-Hart, Newfane cagers split

Plagued throughout by turnovers and ice cold shooing, Roy-Hart bowed 48-24 to visiting Newfane this evening in a Niagara-Orleans League girls basketball makeup game.

However, Roy-Hart did gain a split on the evening as the Rams downed host Newfane 55-44 in a boys makeup contest.

Marlo MacFarlane and Bailey Koithan each scored 12 points to lead the way for the Newfane girls which improve to 3-1.

Becky Harnish scored 6, Brianna Lewandowski 5 and Morgan Jones 4 for Roy-Hart which drops to 1-3.

MacFarlane scored eight quick points in the first quarter to put Newfane on top to stay at 11-4.

The Lady Panthers stayed up by 10, 23-13, at the half and then opened up an 18 point, 33-15 advantage late in the third period after Bailey scored 10 points in a row.

Newfane led 33-20 at the three-quarter mark.

In the boys contest, Alex Stoddard scored a game high 19 points, Cody Breedlove 15 and Austin Heschke 12 to spearhead the attack for Roy-Hart boys which improves to 2-1.

Josh Kneeland scored 14 and Kyle Burdick 11 for Newfane which slips to 1-3.

Roy-Hart jumped out to leads of 12-5 after one quarter and 28-16 at the half as Stoddard tallied 15 during that stretch.

The Rams maintained a 41-30 advantage at the three-quarter mark.

Albion improves to 1-2 and Wilson drops to 0-3.
