Roy-Hart girls edge past Akron in 8 innings; Medina and Barker score road victories
Roy-Hart outlasted host Akron 17-15 in 8 innings this afternoon to improve to 5-0 in Niagara-Orleans League softball competition.
Winning pitcher Mallory Steiner, Maddie Fry and Maddy Glena each had an RBI single in the decisive eighth inning for the Lady Rams as a triple by Sam Choate ignited the uprising.
Defensivley, Reanna Perkins then made a big diving catch at second base for the Lady Rams in the bottom of the eighth inning to help stop an Akron rally.
Choate and Steiner both had home runs on the day.
Abby Stone had a double and triple for Akron which is now 1-2.
Medina 32, Wilson 1
Four home runs highlighted the offense as Medina bested host Wilson 32-1 to improve to 4-1 in N-O action.
Ryenn Oliver had a grand slam home run and a two run homer, Alisha Scroger a two-run homer and Morgan Allis a solo homer.
Barker 22, Newfane 10
Trailing 5-3, Barker erupted for 8 runs in the second inning to key a 22-10 win over Newfane.
Kylie Miller, Emily Wagner, Morgan Sczepanak, Ella Fox and Abby Harris each had 3 hits for the Lady Raiders. Wagner had a home run an 6 RBIs and Miller two doubles and 5 RBIs.
This past weekend Barker earned a split at the Alexander Tournament defeating Elba 18-12 and losing to Alden 28-9. Sydie Luckman and Wagner both had home runs against Alden.
