Roy-Hart girls down Medina for first N-O victory; Albion trims Akron
Snapping a season long seven league game losing streak, Roy-Hart trimmed Medina 51-45 this evening in a Niagara-Orleans girls basketball game.
In the other N-O contests, Albion edged past host Akron 45-40 and Wilson downed Barker 45-21.
Maddy Glena scored 12, Ellie Todd and Ashley Hill 10, Skyler Christopher 9, Maddie Fry 6, Lexi Lovewell 3 and Delaney Draper 1 for Roy-Hart.
Hill had a three and Fry and Christopher both made a pair of free throws in the final period to help the Lady Rams lock up the win.
Maddie Williams and Camri King both scored 13 and Je’ne Brown and Kharise Johnson 6 for Medina which slips to 0-7 in N-O action.
Roy-Hart held leads of 11-10 after one period, 26-19 at the half and 36-32 at the three-quarter mark.
The teams will meet again in a makeup game at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Medina.
Albion 45, Akron 40
Trailing 32-29 after three quarters, Albion used a 16-8 fourth period scoring edge to down Akron 45-40.
Janae Doty had a two and a three and Sierra Newton a pair of late baskets to key the Purple Eagles big stretch run.
Caitlynn Snook led Albion with 13 as Newton and Natalie DiCureia both added 8 and Doty 7.
Darion Jonathan scored 10 and Elise Leeds 20 for Akron.
Akron led 11-4 after one period but Albion rallied into a 23-18 half-time advantage.
Albion is now 6-3 and Akron 5-4 in N-O action.
Wilson 45, Barker 21
Emily Kelly scored 10 and Izzy Dinse 8 to lead the way for Wilson in a 45-21 win over Barker which got 9 from Serena Harris and 6 from Gabby Baker.
Wilson is now 6-3 and Barker 2-5 in the league.
