Roy-Hart cagers edge past Akron
In a sea-saw battle, Roy-Hart trimmed host Akron 55-52 this evening in a Niagara-Orleans League boys basketball make-up game.
Jake Bruning poured in a game high 32 points to lead the way for Roy-Hart as Noah Kindron added 14, Charlie Bruning 5, Charlie Brigham 4 and Blake Halstead 2.
Derek Holtz scored 16, Weylon Abrams 12 and Adam Mietz 10 for Akron.
Roy-Hart jumped out to a 15-5 first period lead as Jake Bruning scored 9 and Kindron 4.
However, Akron answered with a 19-9 second period surge to rally into a 24-24 tie at the half.
Roy-Hart though countered with an 11-6 third period scoring run to regain a 35-30 lead at the three-quarter mark.
Roy-Hart then held off a strong Akron comeback bid down the stretch which saw the Tigers outpoint the Rams 22-20.
Jake Bruning hit three threes and Kindron made three clutch late free throws to help the Rams claim the narrow win.
Roy-Hart, which next visits Albion at 7 p.m. Tuesday, is now 3-6 in the league and Akron 2-7.
