Roy-Hart outlasted visiting CSAT 5-4 this evening in a wild season opening non league boys soccer game.

Roy-Hart built up a 3-1 advantage in the first half on goals by Jose Campos, Jacob Higgins and Noah Hardy. Aidan Bligh assisted on Higgins’ goal and Campos on Hardy’s tally.

However, CSAT battled back to knot the contest at 3-3 early in the second half.

Roy-Hart regained a 4-3 lead as Ethan Lindke scored off an assist from Bligh with 17 minutes remaining.

CSAT though again battled back to retie the contest at 4-4 with 8 minutes remaining.

The Rams though quickly answered the challenge, regained the lead for good when Lindke scored what proved to be the game winner with 7 minutes to go.

Roy-Hart goalie Colby Hancock then helped to preserve the narrow win by making clutch saves on a pair of point blank CSAT shots in the final minutes. Earlier he also stopped a penalty kick.

Roy-Hart next hosts Albion in the Niagara-Orleans League opener at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
