Roy-Hart blanks Medina in N-O field hockey
A pair of first half goals proved to be more than enough as Roy-Hart blanked host Medina 2-0 this afternoon in a Niagara-Orleans League field hockey game at Vets Park.
Lexi Lovewell scored what proved to be the game winning goal for Roy-Hart 10 minutes into the first half.
Mckenzie Rothwell later added an insurance tally for the Lady Rams with 2:46 to go in the opening half.
Goalie Jamie Bower made 4 big saves for Roy-Hart in the first half including stopping a Medina breakaway opportunity in the opening minutes.
Medina is now 0-2.
In the other N-O games, Akron (2-0) defeated Newfane (0-2) 7-1 and Wilson (1-1) downed Kenmore (1-2) 6-0.
Hannah Day and Olivia Mocarski both had 2 goals for Wilson as Ivy Montgomery and Gianna Marchetti each had 1.
Alexis Bell scored 4 goals to lead Akron as Lacey Berghorn, Madison Brege and Jenelle Kieffer each chipped in with 1. Olivia Diebel had 4 assists for the Lady Tigers.
In a non league game, Barker downed Nichols 6-0 as Katrina Clare scored 3 goals, Rachel Hurtgam 2 and Lena Fazzolari 1.
Volleyball
Roy-Hart 25-25-26, Lyndonville 9-14-24
Aspen Moore had 12 spiking kills and Emilia Peracciny 5 to help spark Roy-Hart to a straight set 25-9, 25-14, 26-24 win over host Lyndonville in a non league volleyball match. Rebecca Jones added 12 service points, including 5 aces, and Ella Brown 7 points including 3 aces.
Roy-Hart next opens Niagara-Orleans League competition at Albion on Wednesday evening.
