Roy-Hart bests Cleve Hill in B2 contest

Avenging an earlier season non league loss (70-58), No. 11 Roy-Hart upended host No. 6 Cleveland Hill 67-57 this evening in the pre quarterfinals of the Section VI Class B2 boys basketball playoffs.

Leading by a narrow 40-39 margin after three quarters, the Rams put together a big 27-18 fourth quarter scoring burst to claim the win.

Rhett Godowin scored 10, including two threes, and Tom Ragonese and Aiden Petrie 6 each to spearhead the Rams decisive fourth quarter uprising.

Goodwin finished with 21 as Ragonese, Jamel Johnson Jr. and Gavyn Boyle each added 10 and Petrie 8.

Roy-Hart, which led 16-14 after one period and 26-24 at the half, next visits No. 3 Fredonia at 1 p.m. Saturday in the quarterfinals.

Wilson 52, MST Seneca 31
No. 8 seed Wilson downed visiting No. 9 MST Seneca 52-31 to advance to a Class B2 quarterfinal matchup at No. 1 Olmsted at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Leading 19-10 at the half, Wilson used a 20-11 third period scoring edge to put a lock on the win.

Luke Bradley scored 13 of his game high 21 and Mike Miller 5 of hs 10 to spark the third period surge by the Lakemen.

In another Class B2 pre quarterfinal contest, No. 7 JFK trimmed no. 10 Akron 52-48.

Section V Girls Basketball
In Section V girls opening round playoff games, No. 5 Clyde-Savannah downed No. 12 Lyndonville 62-41 in Class C2, No. 3 Canisteo-Greenwood bested No. 14 Holley 65-16 in Class C1 and No. 7 Pavilion topped No. 10 Kendall 49-16 in Class D1.

In several other playoff games involving Genesee Region League teams, No. 5 Notre Dame defeated No. 12 Genesee Valley 59-17 in Class D1, No. 1 Pembroke downed No. 16 Sodus 75-16 and No. 2 Byron-Berge bested No. 15 Campbell-Savonna 65-22 in Class C1.
