Roy-Hart, Barker to host sectional semis

Postseason playoff competition continues on Monday as Roy-Hart and Barker will host Section VI semifinal round baseball contests.

No. 4 Roy-Hart will host No. 8 Southwestern in Class B2 and No. 1 Barker will entertain No. 5 Holland in Class C2, both at 5 p.m. Southwestern downed No. 1 Olmsted 17-4 and Holland defeated No. 4 Frewsburg 7-5 in the quarterfinals.

In Section V Class D1 baseball competition No. 2 Lyndonville will face No. 3 Alfred-Almond in the semifinals at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Genesee Community College. Lyndonvllle defeated No. 7 Northstar 7-1 and Alfred-Almond downed No. 6 Genesee Valley 2-1 in the quarterfinals.

The Section VI Class B2 softball semifinals are also slated for Tuesday with No. 3 Medina at No. 2 Fredonia and No. 4 Roy-Hart at No. 1 Eden, both at 4:45 p.m.  In the quarterfinals Medina nipped No. 6 Southwestern 5-4 in 10 innings, Fredonia downed No. 10 Wilson 12-1, Roy-Hart edged past No. 5 Akron 2-1 and Eden bested No. 8 Gowanda 7-0.

In Section V Class D1 softball quarterfinal contests on Tuesday, No. 7 Kendall faces No. 2 Alfred-Almond at 4:30 p.m. and No. 1 Lyndonville takes on No. 8 Jasper-Troupsburg at 5:30 p.m. at Caledonia-Mumford.

The Section VI Class D lacrosse semifinals on Thursday will have No. 3 Medina at No. 2 Eden and No. 1 Akron facing the winner of Tuesday’s No. 4 Silver Creek vs. No. 5 Gowanda quarterfinal contest.  Eden bested Medina twice during the regular season by scores of 13-7 and 11-7.

Niagara-Orleans League track competition will conclude at 4 p.m. Tuesday with Medina at Barker and Akron at Albion.
