Roy-Hart/Barker posts shutout win over Burgard in opener; Iroquois downs Albion

The defense registered a shutout and the special teams set up the first two touchdowns sparking Roy-Hart/Barker to a 31-0 season opening win over visiting Burgard this evening.

The special teams scored the Bulls opening touchdown as Jackson West blocked a Burgard punt and Luey Castro made the recovery. The ball came loose again and Alexander Caleb recovered on the ball in the endzone for the touchdown. West also had the first of his four sacks on third down to force the Bulldogs into a punting situation.

The Bulls special teams came up big again later in the quarter getting the ball back after a high snap from center on a Burgard punt attempt. Three plays later Aidan Mescal scored on a 5 yard touchdown run and Jon Konstanty added the extra point kick to make it 13-0.

“We were relentless. We dominated,” said Bulls Coach CJ Knight.

Roy-Hart/Barker upped the lead to 21-0 at the half as Mescal scored on a 10 yard TD run with 43 seconds to go in the second quarter and quarterback Tysen McCaa added the two-point conversion run.

Roy-Hart/Barker closed out the win with a big fourth quarter as Mescal hooked up with Anthony Adinolfe for a 30 yard touchdown pass play. Konstanty added the extra point kick and later booted a 26 yard field goal.

Iroquois 51, Albion 6
Jumping out to a 26-6 halftime advantage, defending Section VI Class B champion Iroquois posted a 51-6 win over visiting Albion in the B2 Division opener.

Kwame Riley scored Albion’s touchdown on an 80 yard kickoff return in the first quarter.
