Roy-Hart/Barker/Medina Club hockey team splits on opening day of state championships
The Roy-Hart/Barker/Medina Club Hockey team opened their State Championship Tournament competition with a 5-1 win over City Honors/ Cardinal O’Hara this morning in Jamestown.
The locals took a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals by Joel Harris (Barker) and Luc Wagner (Medina).
Their lead was extended in the second on goals by Jackson Hauser (Barker), and Wagner again.
Entering the third with a 4-1 lead, Jack Goehle (Newfane) scored.
In the evening game, Valley Stream/Sewanhaka/Lynbrook of Long Island handed RBM a 7-3 defeat.
Behind 2-0 in the first period, Goehle broke the ice assisted by Harris.
In the second, Wagner and Goehle both scored with assists from Paul Lassman (Wilson) and Harris.
Saturday morning will find RBM facing Half Hollow Hills of Long Island at 10:15 a.m.
The top four teams from the two days of competition will play two games to determine the Mixed School NYS Champion. Those games will be Sunday morning.
