Roy-Hart 2 thumps Medina in Midget B
Scoring three quick runs in the top of the first inning, Roy-Hart 2 went on to defeat host Medina 17-3 Monday evening in a Lockport Midget B League game.
An error, two walks and singles by Ben Maynard and Ben Schwab keyed the big first inning for Roy-Hart which avenged a 10-4 season opening loss to Medina.
Eric Fitch had two doubles on the night for Roy-Hart which also closed strong scoring four runs in the sixth inning and seven more in the seventh.
Maynard and Jacob Bruning also both had two hits for Roy-Hart while Al Xapsos picked up the win on the mound going six innings.
Brett Riemer had three hits, including two doubles and two RBIs, for Medina which also got two hits from Quinton Adkins and Brad McPherson. Jared Zinkievich also chipped in with a double and Chase McAdoo a single.
Medina is now 2-1 and Roy-Hart 2 is 1-2.
Roy-Hart 1 5, Somerset 1
Joe Nolan pitched a one hitter with eight strikeouts to lead Roy-Hart 1 past Somerset 5-1.
Aaron Metz had two hits and two RBIs for Roy-Hart which improves to 2-0.
Hits by Metz and Austin Walker helped to plate two key runs in the fifth inning.
The loss drops Somerset to 0-3.
